KOA, Front Royal, VA (8/99)

Our "last gasp of summer" camping trip was to the KOA in Front Royal, Virginia. We stayed there Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the last week of August. Mom stayed home on Thursday and Friday nights, but drove up to spend the afternoon and night with us on Saturday. The campground is located about an hour from where we live.

Keith takes a curve on the 350' waterslide.

Scott tackles the same curve. Backwards.

Keith and Scott cool off in the pool

We get some much needed rain on Thursday afternoon.

      Big, fat millipede.

We encounter a scary sign on a short hike.

"The Place", Front Royal, Virginia. I'm adding a new feature to the web site soon called "Signs Along the Way", a collection of interesting and funny signs we encounter in our travels. This sign will be one of the first to become part of the collection.

We took the long way home, via Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. Here's our van and camper at an overlook.

Here's a panoramic view from the same overlook

We snapped a picture of this deer grazing by the roadside. The park has a very large deer population and it's not unusual to see one or more every few minutes.
